The Photo Walk

The Georgetown University Art Galleries are pleased to host “The Photo Walk: Exploring Community and Place,” presented in conjunction with the exhibition E. Brady Robinson: Studio Hours / After Hours. This one-day photography workshop will focus on the photo walk as a means to explore community and document place through the social landscape, street photography, and portraits.

Led by photographer E. Brady Robinson, participants will photograph throughout the Georgetown neighborhood using observation and the camera as tools for exploring their environment. Through guided shooting prompts, participants will explore approaches to photographing people and places with an emphasis on composition, light, perspective, and visual storytelling.

DSLR, mirrorless camera, or smartphone is required.

Participants using a DSLR or mirrorless camera should have a basic understanding of shooting in manual mode. Smartphone cameras are also welcome.

Participants should bring a fully charged camera or smartphone and, if using a camera, a memory card. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The workshop will take place primarily outdoors and involves walking throughout Georgetown. This event is weather permitting.
