DE LA CRUZ ART GALLERY
The Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery, generously supported by Maria (C’87, P’17, P’22) & Alberto (B’89, P’17, P’22) de la Cruz, opened in August 2018 as Georgetown’s flagship exhibition space. Its establishment was made possible through their philanthropy and a broad base of support from alumni, parents, faculty, and leadership.
Located in the Walsh Building, the gallery presents temporary exhibitions by world-class contemporary artists whose work aligns with Georgetown’s mission and Jesuit values, exploring themes such as social justice, cross-cultural exchange, and global consciousness.
From the beginning, the de la Cruz Gallery has served as a creative incubator and platform for interdisciplinary discovery and global engagement, welcoming not only the campus community, but also the broader Georgetown neighborhood and Washington, D.C. region. Since its debut, the gallery has earned critical acclaim, with notable exhibitions including those by Jeffrey Gibson, Glenn Ligon, Kara Walker, Baseera Khan, and Hung Liu.
In tandem with the Spagnuolo Gallery, the de la Cruz gallery seeks to promote cross-cultural understanding, advance social justice, broaden global consciousness, and create opportunities for audiences not only to view art but to connect with it in meaningful and memorable ways.
